Available in two variants, Direct & Focused or Warm & Broad, all eight strings are mutually compatible and fully interchangeable by design. Il Cannone for cello gives you a toolbox of options to choose from to optimize your individual sound.

The core sound can be blended with any Il Cannone string combination(s) because all of the options are of a similar moderate tension and engineered to complement one another. For example, combine the Warm & Broad C with the Direct & Focused G and you will notice that C becomes more focused and the G becomes warmer.

The 5 star is for Soundbox string trial not the Larsen Il Cannone string set

The 5 star is for Soundbox string trial not the Larsen Il Cannone string set. The Larsen string set I would give a 3 star rating. The C string was nice in the set but the other 3 strings were subpar in my opinion. I have been interested in trying Il Cannone since Larsen released them but did not want to be in a position to pay full retail price to just try a set. Thank you Soundbox for this extremely valuable service that allows cellist to try strings in what can otherwise be a prohibitive and expensive process in order to come to the right choice for their instrument. The whole process of the string trial was smooth and just as presented. Thank you!

Nice strings, not ideal for my cello

Did a basic trial. Nice strings overall. They're warm and resonant as advertised, but still much less so than my previous Pirastro Obligatos. They were slightly easier to play and more responsive, but on my cello the tone quality was a bit ugly in patches, especially in the low areas of the A string. I tried them alongside Jargar Evoke, which I decided to buy, while returning the Il Cannone.
