Bender Cello Endpin Shafts
Klaus Bender cello endpin shafts, made in Germany. Each material has its own tonal character, and changing the shaft is one of the easiest ways to change how your cello responds.
Try before you buy — 10-day trial program: try all five shafts before you decide.
This listing is for the shaft (rod) only. The Bender aluminum plug/cone is not included. All shafts are 10mm in diameter and fit the Bender cone, as well as other standard 10mm endpin collars.
Hollow (tube) shafts are particularly light. Solid shafts are recommended for players who pull the rod out far, for extra stability.
- Carbon Fiber — 60cm, 57g. The lightest shaft, with a focused, warm character.
- Brass — solid, 60cm, 390g. The heaviest shaft, for depth and richness in the lower registers.
- Titanium (Solid) — 60cm, 208g. Solid titanium, for power and resonance with extra stability.
- Titanium (Hollow) — tube, 60cm, 87g. Hollow titanium, for power and resonance at a fraction of the solid shaft's weight.
- Aluminum — hollow tube, 60cm, 106g. A lighter, resonant option for a broader sound.
Aluminum note: the aluminum shaft may not fit all 10mm cones — for some reason it does not go in easily in some cones.
Carbon fiber note: use carbon shafts only with collars that clamp all around the rod, such as the Bender, New Harmony, or Saddle Rider Vector Mount. A side screw can damage carbon fiber over time.
A note on the Bender tip: it is soft steel, so it gets dull very quickly, and it does not come super sharp — you may have to sharpen it before use.
Tip replacement service: $50 total, including the tip — we can replace the tip for you with the Saddle Rider carbide tip. Or, if you would rather do it yourself, you can buy the Saddle Rider carbide tip and replace it yourself.
