Larsen Sovereign cello strings — first impressions

Larsen Sovereign cello strings — first impressions

Going from the Eccentric to the Sovereign — and the names really are fitting — felt like going from striking a brass bowl with the dampening on to lifting it off entirely. Full ring.

The A and D are warm, resonant, and sweet. They make the instrument sound expensive. The G and C are powerful — raw at first, almost like Spirocore tungsten, but they break in quickly. The set as a whole adds resonance and color.

Andrew Glasser tells me most players love the Larsen Sovereign G and C and pair them with a different A and D. On my cello, the full set worked fantastically.
